Dr. Joseph E. Flack joined Cardiac Surgical Associates of Western Mass., after completing his fellowship at the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland in 1989. Dr. Flack is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery, Massachusetts Medical Society and the Hampden District Medical Society. He is a participant on the Heart and Vascular Physicians Task Force at Baystate Medical Center. Dr. Flack has a special interest in robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He is an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoys backcountry skiing and hiking around the world
