Dr. John A. Rousou is one of the two surgeons who brought cardiac surgery to Western Massachusetts. He is a native of Nicosia, Cyprus and completed his training at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago under the supervision of world renowned cardiac surgeon, Sidney Levitsky. Dr. Rousou was named Chief of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Baystate Medical Center in 2000. Dr. Rousou is board certified with the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery, Cardiac Surgery Biology Club, Massachusetts Medical Society, American College of Cardiology and Hampden District Medical Society.
